PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police are investigating a double shooting in North Philadelphia Tuesday night that may be connected to another shooting earlier in the day about a dispute over loud music.

Around 11 p.m. at Mascher and Huntingdon streets, two men, ages 54 and 34, were wounded in an apparent shootout, according to police.

"The scene consists of over 30 spent shell casings from a semiautomatic weapon or weapons. We also found a semiautomatic handgun on the scene lying on the street, and we also found a holster and a folding knife," said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Both victims survived and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Based on the address of one of the victims and the car used to take one of them to the hospital, investigators believe the shooting may have ties to a double shooting that happened nearby on Palethorp Street about 22 hours earlier in the day.

Around 1 a.m., officials said a man went up to some parked cars in the neighborhood that were blaring loud music.

"It escalated into an argument, which escalated into a shooting," Small said. Both victims, ages 37 and 24, were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

No one has been arrested in either shooting.
