PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Former President Barack Obama is making his first in-person campaign appearance for his former vice president Wednesday evening in Philadelphia.
He’ll appear with local elected officials in the parking lot of Citizens Bank Park, for what’s being billed as a “drive-in rally” for Joe Biden.
Biden is not expected to be in attendance. He’s taking a few days off to prepare for Thursday’s debate.
The Biden campaign said the event will not be open to the general public due to COVID-19 precautions, but local campaign officials will distribute tickets to supporters.
Those permitted to attend can tune in to Obama's speech on a specific radio channel while they are parked in their cars at the stadium.
Obama is likely to talk about the need for people to get out and vote.
Pennsylvania is viewed as crucial for a victory on Nov. 3, and Philadelphia is critical to success in the state.
Obama's event comes a day after President Donald Trump also campaigned in the battleground state, making a stop in Erie.
