Two officers recovering after attack during response to series of 911 hang-ups in Atlantic County, NJ

Two police officers who were attacked by an Atlantic County man while they were responding to a series of 911 hang-ups, are out of the hospital and on the mend.

Galloway Twp. Police Department Lt. Mark D'Esposito says 30-year-old Keith Kaminsky is accused of stabbing Officer Erik Tarnow in the right side of his face with a pocket folding knife before Tarnow took the suspect to the ground.

Officer Hunter Thomas was not stabbed, but he received a head injury. Together the two officers were able to get Kaminsky into custody.

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — Two police officers in Atlantic County, New Jersey were sent to the hospital on Sunday night after they were attacked responding to a 911 call in Galloway Township.

According to police, someone called 911 multiple times from Cresson Avenue around 8:30 p.m., but hung up.

When the officers arrived to investigate the origin of the call, 30-year-old Keith Kaminski attacked them with a knife after his mother answered the door.

One officer was stabbed on the side of his face while the other suffered a head injury of some sort. Both were taken to the Atlanticare Regional Medical Center for treatment. One has since been released and the other remains in treatment.

Kaminski is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and resisting arrest.
