PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Officials have ruled the death of a 9-year-old girl at Hersheypark last week an accidental drowning.

Sophia Subedi began struggling in the wave pool at the Boardwalk just after 6:45 p.m. on July 24.

Authorities say nearby witnesses and lifeguards responded within seconds of noticing Subedi's distress, and began rescue efforts before Subedi was taken to a hospital, where she died.

The investigation included a review of video footage and statements from employees, witnesses and first responders, according to police.

According to an incident review released by the Derry Township Police Department, Hersheypark and its employees were not found at fault.

A funeral service was held for Subedi in Harrisburg on Wednesday.
