PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Seven people were shot in two separate shootings across Philadelphia Wednesday evening, leaving two of them dead.

Around 6 p.m., police said a gunman fired at least four shots at a 19-year-old man inside a Frankford mini-mart attached to a gas station on Oxford Avenue. The man was killed.

Police are not sure what the motive was, but the victim may have been an intended target.

"We're getting preliminary information that the shooter is known to come in this mini market on a regular basis," Chief Inspector Scott Small told NBC10.

He described the shooter as a man with shoulder-length dreadlocks, wearing dark clothing.

The victim had driven a Cadillac SUV to the market with at least two other people in the car — a 20-year-old man in the passenger seat and another person in the back.

When the gunman left the store, police said he shot at the 20-year-old in the car, hitting him in the leg. Preliminary reports show he is considered stable.

Meanwhile, a bullet went through the shoe of a bystander who was pumping gas. Small said she is also physically OK.

About an hour later in the Eastwick area of Southwest Philadelphia, in a separate shooting, police said one man was killed and three other people, including a 17-year-old boy, were hurt by gunfire.

The man, who investigators believe was in his 20s, was shot in the stomach. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead, according to officials.

The 17-year-old boy was shot in the chest and is in critical condition. A 23-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man are expected to recover.
