PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- As the daily number of coronavirus cases in Pennsylvania continues to grow, officials are encouraging in-person voters to go with a COVID-19 kit.
In Pennsylvania there have been 1,000 or more new cases of COVID-19 a day over the last 28 days, according to Department of Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine. She says there is also a rise in the number of people being hospitalized as a result of the virus.
"Over the last week, we have reported five days with more than 2,000 new cases a day," Levine said.
Levine says, although infection numbers continue to rise, it is safe to vote in person, but she's asking folks to prepare themselves with a COVID-19 kit, when going to the polls.
"Your kit should include a mask, a pen, hand sanitizer, and the COVID Alert PA app on your phone."
She adds that people who are in quarantine are not prevented from safely casting a ballot.
"If someone is in quarantine, there are ways we have that they can vote. You need to contact the Department of State, and they can make special provisions for that person to vote."
Levine is encouraging voters to drop off their ballots at their county election office as soon as possible, and not to wait until the last minute.
