PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two parents accused of abusing their children in a “house of horrors” case earlier this year have been sentenced.

Paul Weber, 32, sobbed as he read through his statement to the judge about last March when police found his 6-year-old son, who has autism, locked inside a zip-tied cage, and two other children, ages 3 and 5, standing outside, partially dressed, in the cold.

Weber and the mother, Michelle Campbell, were both charged with multiple counts of child endangerment and assault, but both pleaded down to just a few of the offenses.

Weber is facing simple assault, child endangerment, and false imprisonment charges, and Campbell is facing child and reckless endangerment charges.

Weber ran through the guilt, shame, and remorse he says he feels every single day for the part he played.

He says the 6-year-old was uncontrollable and impulsive, would run out of the house and into the street, and was sometimes a danger to his other children.

Judge Zachary Shaffer noted Weber had suffered a very tough and traumatic childhood, but said this case is horrific and one he would never forget.

He sentenced Weber, who’s been in prison since March, to about two years on house arrest with 10 years probation.

Campbell was sentenced last week to house arrest and probation.

Shaffer said if Weber or Campbell ever did anything against a child again they would be behind bars for at least a decade.
