PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The council president of Parkside Borough in Delaware County has been charged with two counts of theft for allegedly misusing a gas card when he worked as a code enforcement officer.

The Delaware County District Attorney’s Office said Dominic “Nick” Capobianco is accused of using the card to fill up his personal vehicle with gasoline, as well as gas cans, on several occasions.

The card was solely intended to fuel a code enforcement vehicle.

The purchases allegedly occurred between September and March of last year.

Capobianco stepped down from his job in code enforcement when he became council president on Jan. 5.

Investigators said nearly $2,500 in taxpayer funds was stolen. Capobianco was charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. Bail was set at $50,000.
