PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man who had stepped out of his car after crashing it on I-95 was fatally struck by another driver, who then took off, according to Pennsylvania State Police. The victim was then hit by two more cars.

It happened around 9 p.m. Tuesday in the southbound lanes near the Market Street on-ramp.

Investigators said the victim was driving when he hit the left side barrier, then crossed two lanes and hit the right side barrier. He got out of his car and called 911, telling the operator that he had a head injury.

After he hung up, police said he stepped into traffic and was hit by a silver sedan, which fled the scene. Police don't know the make, model or plate number of the striking vehicle.

Two other cars then hit the victim, but those drivers stayed on the scene.

The victim, later identified as Peter Sorochinski, of Levittown, Bucks County, was pronounced dead at the scene.
