Pennsylvania COVID-19 cases see another steep drop

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The daily average of new COVID-19 cases in Pennsylvania continues a steep decline.

The seven-day average of new cases in Pennsylvania is down to about 2,000 per day, where it was in mid-March, before the recent spike started.


That spring spike peaked in mid-April, with daily average new cases reaching about 5,000 per day.

Compare that to the winter spike, where the 7-day average of new cases was more than 10,000 per day.

Statewide, the positivity rate is 6.6%, down from 9.6% three weeks ago. Under 5% is the goal.

Delaware County saw a sharp decline in average daily cases over the past seven days, down to 76. That's less than half what it was two weeks ago. The county's positivity rate is 5.1%, down almost 3.5% over the past two weeks.

Chester County's positivity rate dropped to 5.6 percent. The 7-day average of new cases dropped to 64-per-day, down from 111 two weeks ago.

Bucks County is down to a 7-day average of 95-cases per day, a little over half what they were two weeks ago. Its positivity rate dropped to 6.5%.

Montgomery County's positivity rate is down to 5.6%. The 7-day daily average of new cases is down to 101, down from 188 two weeks ago.
