PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Wearable technology is getting more sophisticated. We can measure everything from irregular heartbeats to our sleep. Technology keeps improving, but it wasn't that long ago that we were fascinated by the fact that we could track our daily steps.
Over the years, researchers have been using this information to try to find links between our daily steps and our overall health. Exercise has always been linked to improved mental health, but we now have scientific proof.
According to a study of more than 96,000 people, higher daily step counts were associated with fewer symptoms of depression. Increasing steps does not treat depression, but there is a clear association between exercise and feeling better.
