PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 19-year-old man has been arrested on gun charges connected to a stolen car chase and crash in Port Richmond that resulted in a man being killed. Police say they are still looking for three other suspects.
Authorities say Efrain Rosario was one of four people in a stolen 2017 Cadillac Escalade Saturday night at about 9:15 p.m. when police tried to pull it over along Castor Avenue near Aramingo Avenue. The car sped off and then crashed into a 2007 Mazda.
Both cars spun out and the Escalade hit Bill Repka, 38, who was in a wheelchair and panhandling in the street according to police. Repka later died at the hospital.
The Escalade also hit a 2020 Chevy Silverado which was stopped at a red light. An 11-year-old and a 27-year-old driver were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Investigators say the Escalade landed on a curb near the Burger King, and that’s when they say the four people got out and ran, including Rosario. Eventually, they caught up with Rosario, but are still looking for the other three.
It was unclear who was driving the car, but detectives say they found several guns in the car, and authorities have charged Rosario with a violation under the Firearms Act and carrying without a license.
Authorities continue to investigate.
