PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia City Council approved three new bike lanes across the city as officials seek to improve bike infrastructure.
The lanes will be installed on a block of 22nd Street in Spring Garden, a few blocks of 13th Street on Temple University’s campus, and a stretch of 23rd Street in Center City, just above Market Street.
It does not appear that those lanes will be protected, which bikers have advocated for.
The bill now goes to Mayor Cherelle Parker’s desk for a signature before the Streets Department can paint the lanes.
The new lanes could appear in as soon as a few weeks.
