PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Harris campaign is ripping into Philadelphia Democratic Committee Chairman Bob Brady for his criticism of its get-out-the-vote efforts after Kamala Harris’ resounding loss to Donald Trump.
Brady told NBC10 that the Harris campaign didn’t give his organization the money needed for door-knocking campaigns across the city.
“I would have liked to see the Harris campaign, especially the national campaign, coordinate with us a little bit. Talk to us a little bit. Give us a little bit more resources. Show us some respect. Didn’t happen,” he said.
Brady also told The Philadelphia Inquirer that he never met with Harris. The campaign responded with a photo of Brady standing in between Harris and running mate Tim Walz.
A spokesperson for the Harris campaign added that they knocked on 2 million doors the weekend before the election — “2 million more doors than Bob Brady’s organization can claim to have knocked during his entire tenure as party chairman.”
The spokesperson continued, “If there’s any immediate takeaway from Philadelphia’s turnout this cycle, it is that Chairman Brady’s decades-long practice of fleecing campaigns for money to make up for his own lack of fundraising ability or leadership is a worthless endeavor that no future campaign should ever be forced to entertain again.”
Voter turnout in Philadelphia was about 50,000 votes less than the turnout for the 2020 election.
