PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia International Airport is launching a program next month that will allow people without airline tickets to visit the secure side of the facility.
Starting Nov. 1, people can apply online for what's being called a PHL Wingmate Pass, which will allow people who aren't flying to accompany friends or family who are all the way to their gate. The passes are good for six hours at a time.
Those interested must apply for the pass one to seven days before their visit. After TSA approves the application, you'll be given a digital pass.
The airport is allowing up to 50 people to visit each day, all of whom will have to go through TSA screening. The airport plans to offer merchandise and dining discounts to visitors who just want to shop or eat on the secure side.
