Remains found near Kelly Drive identified as male teen; case investigated as homicide

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police believe the remains of a person found Sunday near Kelly Drive was that of a male teenager.

A source confirms to KYW Newsradio they are investigating this as a homicide.

Around noon on Sunday, officers responded to North 32nd and West Thompson streets in Brewerytown for a report of someone screaming.

When they got to the scene, someone led the officers to the remains that were allegedly on fire at one point.

The investigation is ongoing.
