PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Philadelphia man has been sentenced to nearly 22 years in federal prison for robbing two U.S. Postal Service workers last year and kidnapping one of them.

James Chandler, 55, pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery of a postal worker and one count of kidnapping, stemming from two different incidents in January and February of 2021.

Authorities say Chandler used a fake handgun to force the postal workers into their trucks and steal packages from inside.

During the February incident, Chandler forced a postal worker to drive him for several blocks in her postal truck before he fled on foot.

Chandler was sentenced to 21 years and 10 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release.
