PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police said a 5-year-old boy shot himself in the leg with an unattended gun at home.
Officials said his mother brought him to the hospital around 5:15 p.m. Sunday, which alerted investigators.
The boy is in stable condition.
Police searched a home on Joyce Street, near Frankford Avenue and East Tioga Street.
Police said the gun is registered to the child's godfather, 33-year-old Rhamique Topping. Topping has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and recklessly endangering another person.
