PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Tuesday was a violent night in Philadelphia. One man was killed and seven others were injured, including three teenagers.
Around 7:30 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was shot and critically injured at Frankford Playground on Bridge Street, not far from Frankford and Bustleton avenues.
“It’s a very, very brazen crime due to the fact that it was still daylight,” said Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. “Not only is there a playground where there were children and young adults actively playing basketball, on the other side of the street is a very, very busy SEPTA depot.”
A surveillance camera on a SEPTA bus caught the whole thing on video as the driver pulled out of the depot.
Then, around 9 p.m. in West Philadelphia, a man was shot and killed near 59th and Ludlow streets.
About an hour and a half later, a 16-year-old boy and two women in their 30s were injured in a drive-by shooting at Gratz and Jefferson streets in North Philadelphia. Police said it might have been related to an argument on that block earlier in the night.
Then, about 15 minutes later in Grays Ferry, three people — ages 18, 24 and 28 — were shot near Stanley and Tasker streets.
Police have not made any arrests in any of these shootings.
