Davis has worked for 30 years in education, mainly through the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore City districts, the Philadelphia School District said.
Mohip served more than a decade with Chicago Public Schools before positions as the chief executive officer of Youngstown, Ohio schools and his current role with the Illinois State Board of Education.
Watlington has a 27-year career in education, rising from teacher to assistant principal, principal and now higher leadership positions.
All three candidates will visit Philadelphia early next week to meet with school district officials, students, teachers, principals, parents and guardians and elected leaders.
This announcement of three final candidates is the latest step in the process of finding Hite’s successor which began back in September.
The district held listening sessions where about 6,000 people gave their opinions on what the district needs in a new superintendent.
As of January, more than 400 people applied for the position. A search committee began paring down the list to the three final candidates.
After his departure in August, Hite will become the CEO of KnowledgeWorks, an educational non-profit based in Cincinnati.
