PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities said an off-duty Philadelphia police officer was involved in a deadly shooting in Northampton County Friday afternoon.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, troopers were called to a home in Allen Township, near Allentown, around 2 p.m. for a report of a domestic altercation.
They found a 27-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound, and police said a 25-year-old drove away. Troopers said a pursuit ensued, ending back at the shooting scene, where the 25-year-old was arrested.
Police said the victim died about an hour after the shooting. An autopsy will be conducted on Monday.
Philadelphia police told NBC10 that they are aware of the incident involving the officer, who has been identified as Kenroy Cummings.
Pennsylvania State Police have not confirmed Cummings’ role in the shooting.
