PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A bicyclist is injured after he was struck by a police car Sunday afternoon.

It happened around 3 p.m. in Spring Garden when police were trying to pull over a silver Honda CR-V wanted in connection with a shooting on Juniata Street.

Police say they followed the car with lights and sirens blaring around 19th Street and Allegheny Avenue. Then, as they approached Seventh and Spring Garden streets, they say the CR-V went into the bike lane. The police car followed, and that’s when it struck the 68-year-old bicyclist.

He was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries. Officials say police also struck another Honda CR-V. No injuries were reported.

The driver of the silver CR-V fled the scene.
