PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A dog was shot after an altercation between a man and woman in the city’s Nicetown–Tioga neighborhood early Friday morning.
Police say they responded to reports of a person with a gun along the 3100 block of Bambrey Street near Clearfield Street around 3 a.m.
They say a man and woman were involved in a physical and verbal altercation inside a home when the woman’s pit bull attacked the man. That’s when the man shot twice at the dog, hitting its side and leg.
Officials say the woman escaped by climbing out of a window that was broken during the fight and the man fled the scene.
The pit bull underwent wound treatment at Philadelphia Animal Specialty & Emergency and is now recovering at home.
What led to the fight is not yet known. Police say no weapon has been recovered and no arrests have been made.
