2 dead, several others injured in shooting at Pittsburgh house party

Police say 200 people, mostly underage, were partying at a short-term rental property

PITTSBURGH (KDKA Newsradio) — Two minors are dead and at least nine more people were wounded in a shooting at a house party in Pittsburgh's East Allegheny neighborhood early Sunday morning, police said.

The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. during a party at a short-term rental property where there were more than 200 people inside — many of them underage, Pittsburgh police said in a news release.

Police say ShotSpotter alerts led them to a home in the 800 block of Suismon Street.

As responding units arrived at the scene, additional shots were registered in the immediate vicinity, and several young people were observed fleeing the area on foot and by vehicle.

Police say as many as 50 rounds were fired inside the home. Several more shots were fired outside the home.

Officers found some of the victims at or near the scene. They were taken to the hospital by Pittsburgh EMS and police. Other victims arrived at hospitals both inside and outside of the city by private means.

The victims weren't immediately identified.

Sunday morning, investigators continue to gather evidence from as many as eight crime scenes spanning a few blocks in the area after the shooting in the East Allegheny neighborhood.

Officers from multiple police zones and several medic units responded to assist. Anyone with information is asked to call Major Crimes at 412-323-7161.

Authorities hadn’t released information on any suspects.

Police are expected to hold a news conference Sunday afternoon.
