PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police arrested a suspect who they say shot an innocent bystander earlier this week in Wildwood, New Jersey.

William Hoyle was taken into custody Thursday. Police identified him as a suspect in Tuesday night's shooting.

Around 10:30 that night, police said a stray bullet struck a woman in the head. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Officials said she is an international student.

Investigators said surveillance video from the Cattle 'N Clover restaurant on Pacific Avenue shows Hoyle running after a man and shooting at him multiple times. Additional surveillance footage from an apartment complex shows Hoyle entering an associate's residence.

After executing a search warrant, authorities recovered clothing they said Hoyle wore during the shooting, as well as a weapon, which matches the one seen in surveillance video. The footage shows a man matching Hoyle's description toss something into the sewer.
