SPRINGFIELD, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Police in Delaware County are asking for the public’s help in locating the person responsible for a shooting in Springfield Township on Sunday that left the victim seriously hurt.
Around 4 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the parking lot of the Shops at Springfield off of Baltimore Pike, according to Springfield Police Sgt. David DiTrolio.
“Upon our arrival, our officers found a rear window to a small black sedan shot out,” he said.
DiTrolio says when officers entered the car, they found a person shot and in serious condition. The shooter was nowhere to be found. “We secured the scene and we began an investigation,” he said. No update has been given on the victim’s condition.
The investigation, he says, is a very active collaboration between Springfield police and the Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division. Authorities ask anyone who may have seen something to contact them.
“We would suggest to our community that there is not an active threat ongoing here in Springfield,” said DiTrolio. “Certainly, we take this shooting seriously. It’s not something that happens on an everyday basis in this town.”
