Police officer struck in West Philadelphia hit-and-run

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities are looking for the driver who struck a Philadelphia police officer and his car Thursday morning in West Philadelphia and then took off.

It happened just before noon along Haverford Avenue, near 68th Street.

Police say the officer had pulled someone over, and that’s when another car struck him and his patrol car and sped away.

The 50-year-old officer was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say they do not have a detailed description of the striking vehicle. Anyone with information about this incident can submit an anonymous tip at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
