PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are searching for someone they say shot and killed a teenager in the Frankford neighborhood on Friday.

Police say it happened just after 2 p.m. on Romain Street near Adams Avenue. Authorities told our partners at NBC10 a teenager was reported to be arguing with another person in the middle of Romain Street. When the argument escalated, police said the other person pulled out a gun and opened fire, shooting the teen in the head.

The gunman, who was wearing a black ski mask and black jacket, fled through an alley, according to investigators. The teen was pronounced dead by medics at the scene.

Police also said they recovered a weapon from the victim.

So far this year, at least five people under the age of 18 have been shot in Philadelphia.
