SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — Several pride banners were vandalized over the weekend near the Mullica Hill Pond in Harrison Township.
Police in Gloucester County are asking for the public’s help in finding whoever is responsible for cutting up the flags.
Harrison Township Mayor Lou Manzo said in a statement that this act is a “clear violation of our local Criminal Mischief and Destruction of Public Property ordinances and potentially violates State Laws related to Bias Intimidation.”
He called it “appalling,” noting it is “not representative of the community.” He said the town has received many messages and inquiries expressing outrage.
“This incident also serves as a reminder that hateful minds still exist and simply ignoring it actually enables this behavior. Your town leadership condemns this mindset and we will not ignore it,” Manzo continued. “We ask that you do the same in your circle of influence.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Harrison Township Police Department at 856-478-6839 or submit a tip anonymously online.
