LANSDALE (KYW Newsradio) — At first it sounded like a road-rage murder, but prosecutors now believe a deadly shooting of a driver on the streets of Lansdale late in 2020 is a murder-for-hire stemming from a love triangle.
Ebony Pack, 30, was found dead with multiple gunshots while in the driver’s seat of her car near East Hancock Street and Church Road in Lansdale on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
The car was running, and there were bullet holes in the side of her car.
Only one man is charged with the deadly shooting. Ricky Vance, 52, faces first-degree murder charges.
Investigators believe he was the driver of a car that pulled up next to Pack’s Nissan Sentra as she sat at a red light. According to investigators, that driver fired 10 shots into Pack’s car, then sped off.
But the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office said they don’t think Vance acted alone.
They said when they talked to Pack’s girlfriend, she told them she had a protection-from-abuse order from her ex-boyfriend.
She also said that ex-boyfriend knew what kind of car Pack drove.
The criminal complaint said Vance - the accused shooter - and the ex-boyfriend have a common contact. The complaint says cell phone data show all three of those men were together not long before the shooting.
The district attorney’s office said the investigation continues. There is a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
