PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The lack of significant rainfall in our region has been harsh on plants — not just outside ones, but inside ones too.
Costa Farms Horticulturist Justin Hancock says droughts and humidity can affect plant metabolism, the hormones they produce and how they photosynthesize.
“Climate conditions indoors or out are a complex matrix,” he explained. “You got light, water, humidity and temperature all coming together to affect the way the plant grows.”
To protect your plants, Hancock suggests grouping them close together and investing in a humidifier to “augment the amount of moisture in the air.”
