DELAWARE COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Officials have arrested and charged a man they said made vicious threats against Delaware County Sheriff Saddiq Kamara.
The voicemail was disturbing. “I’m going to find your trail and I’m going to snipe you when you least expect it,” said the caller. “I will find you. I know who you are; you’re an amateur. You sold your tail. I will find you. I will break you.”
According to Delaware County District Attorney Tanner Rouse, Sean Keenan, 40, of Havertown, left two racist, profanity-laced tirades on the voicemail of Kamara, a Black man, earlier this month.
Delaware County’s criminal investigation division led the probe that resulted in Keenan’s arrest. He has been charged with making terroristic threats, ethnic intimidation and intent to terrorize, among other offenses.
In a statement, Kamara said, “Violence and threats against elected officials, law enforcement officers, public servants, or any member of our community can never be normalized or accepted as part of our society.”
However, Keenan’s attorney said he didn’t intentionally target Kamara. He said Keenan’s wife received a threatening scam call, and Keenan thought he was calling that number back.
He said, “We understand why Sheriff Kamara found the voicemail offensive, and nothing in this statement is intended to diminish his feelings. … The evidence will show that this was a misdirected voicemail resulting from a scam call, not a deliberate communication directed at Sheriff Kamara.”
Keenan’s bail was set at $100,000 unsecured with electronic home monitoring. He has a preliminary hearing set for Aug. 7.
