PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Radnor High School’s campus, which served as a polling place, was evacuated Tuesday night due to a bomb threat.

Around 6 p.m., Radnor Township police said the school district was emailed a bomb threat. Superintendent of Police Christopher Flanagan said about 100 people who were at the high school at the time were evacuated.

“Although we considered it a low risk, we still had to clear the area, which included a soccer game,” he said.

A handful of voters had to move to a different polling location as the investigation unfolded. Two precincts in the second ward had to be relocated to Radnor Elementary.

Delaware County election officials said they will seek an extension for voters in those two precincts.

“This is a very serious type of incident,” Flanagan added. “Whether you pull a fire alarm as a kid or you call in some type threat where it scares a multitude of people, or actions like this are taken, there’s a lot of things that can happen from charging, so it’s a very serious offense from the misdemeanor to felony level.”

Police believed there was no immediate threat, so school carried on Wednesday but with an extra law enforcement presence.

Flanagan said there were no reported injuries. Radnor police working with the FBI on the investigation.
