PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Reading man is behind bars, facing rape charges after authorities said they received several reports he allegedly abused a child.
Matthew Anoka, 31, was arrested Tuesday at his home. Police said he is charged with rape of a child, corruption of minors and related offenses. According to the Berks County District Attorney’s Office, Anoka was accused in May of sexually abusing a 7-year-old boy.
Investigators said they interviewed the child, who told them Anoka had abused him and showed him explicit pictures and videos. Through their investigation, police said the abuse happened in April at a home in Kenhorst Borough.
Anoka was denied bail and is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on July 20.
