PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — With no indoor dining until the new year, Philadelphia restaurants are turning to food-centric gift packages this holiday season.
“Fourth quarter is historically the time when businesses accomplish their goals,” said Corie Moskow, executive director of Rittenhouse Row. Instead, many businesses are struggling to stay afloat amid the ever-changing coronavirus restrictions.
So, some businesses are getting creative to turn a profit.
“You can hire our very own ‘Top Chef’ Jen Carroll for a private cooking Zoom, where she will help you create a ‘Top Chef’-worthy experience,” said Moskow.
Or visit Audrey Claire’s Cook on 20th Street, which has been transformed into a wine shop called Cork during the pandemic. You can purchase wines from all over the world, and Moskow said they’re customizing gifts.
“So if you had dreams of traveling to Italy this year, you can give Italy in a box through different types of wine at whatever budget you want.”
Nearby Metropolitan Bakery is offering gift boxes.
“There’s a fit one with all their healthy items,” Moskow explained. “There’s a chocolate box. There’s a morning one. There’s a fall favorites.”
And if you’re looking for a gift with a side of philanthropy, Moskow said HipCityVeg has put together a package that includes a “you look radishing” tote, which they made, and a book by young activist Haile Thomas called “Living Lively.”
“Funds from that package also go to help feed people in need during the holiday season,” she added.
