PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police are trying to identify the person who robbed a gas station employee at gunpoint in North Philadelphia while the victim was on his way to deposit money in the bank.
Surveillance video from the Aug. 31 incident shows a man in a Hyundai Elantra waiting in a gas station parking lot at 22nd Street and West Allegheny Avenue for about an hour and a half.
Police said the man was staking out the store clerk, waiting for him to leave the building with the previous day’s bank deposit so he could steal it.
Video shows the employee being held at gunpoint before he entered his minivan around 12:30 p.m.
At one point, there’s a struggle, and the worker is seen on the ground.
The suspect took the money and drove away in the Elantra. He was last seen driving west on Allegheny Avenue.
