PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The sinkhole that gave drivers grief over the summer is back once again.

A sinkhole opened up Thursday morning on Route 202 North (Dekalb Pike) in King of Prussia. Route 202 is currently closed between Henderson Road and Saulin Boulevard, PennDOT announced.

Only one lane on the southbound side is closed.

Drivers are being diverted to Henderson Road and Saulin Boulevard to get around the mess.

PennDOT said it is a water main issue.

Harold Windisch with PennDOT said Route 202 will remain closed northbound until engineers can fill the void and determine its stability. PennDOT aims to reopen the road by the weekend.

The same stretch of Route 202 closed in July due to a sinkhole. A week after PennDOT repaired it, the asphalt failed and opened up again.

Windisch says that stretch of Route 202 could be more susceptible to sinkholes.

“The whole area has limestone, but apparently there is a big vein of limestone at this location,” he said.
