PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Rutgers University and its faculty union have reached a tentative agreement.
Union leadership met Sunday night and voted to recommend that the deal be ratified by members.
The union went on strike on April 10, demanding better pay and working conditions for part-time staff. Their strike was suspended on April 15.
A statement from Rutgers said the agreement provides "substantial salary increases for full-time faculty, graduate assistants, teaching assistants and others."
Rutgers President Jonathan Holloway also credits New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy for bringing "all sides together when progress had stalled."
