NORRISTOWN, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — The 28-year-old man who hid a camera in a neighbor’s King of Prussia studio apartment and stole her underwear and other intimate objects will spend up to 60 years in prison.
Montgomery County Judge Wendy Rothstein called Ryan Selleny’s actions “perverse, outrageous and disgusting” and noted the “significant harm” he caused his victims.
She went above sentencing guidelines for burglary — the most serious crimes Selleny pleaded guilty to — by handing down a 10- to 60-year prison sentence and finding Selleny a sexually violent predator, which requires lifetime reporting as a sex offender.
Selleny pleaded guilty to burglary, theft, indecent assault and other charges after his neighbor found a phone charger with a hidden camera in her apartment.
Police found her underwear and other intimate objects from her apartment in Ziploc bags in Selleny’s bedroom in a neighboring apartment. Selleny also took illicit videos of himself in her apartment, pleasuring himself and inserting bodily fluids into beverage containers, which the woman unknowingly drank.
“This is, in every way, someone’s worst nightmare to learn that they are a victim of this kind of victimization, this kind of intrusion, and that they had no idea that it was ongoing for months,” said prosecutor Lauren Marvel. “The impact on those victims is just something that we really can’t fully comprehend.”
During the investigation, detectives found video from another apartment where Selleny stole intimate objects from two other women.
Selleny apologized to the women, calling his actions horrifying.
