CAMDEN, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — Now that the turkey is in the refrigerator, kids in Camden are in for some big fun at the Salvation Army Kroc Center.

The children will have a ball at the Christmas Railroad on December 4.
"Parents can drive through with their children," said Salvation Army Captain Pamela Maynor. "At the back of the Kroc Center, we'll have stations. The train conductor will greet them with hot cocoa."
The kids will also get to meet Santa Claus, and families will be given either a holiday ham or chicken.
Maynor said the idea was born from the pandemic.
"It came as a result of COVID," she said. "The railroad has evolved into more of just an experience for a family that's fun and interactive."
Captain Keith Maynor said the center will be decked to the max with inflatables and lights for their Christmas spectacular on December 3, all for the delight of the children.
"Just making a moment where families can come and just experience and taste holiday joy and that spirit of Christmas," he said, adding there will also be choirs performing. "It's like watching Christmas angels, or watching a Hallmark movie with kids with their faces lighting up."
There will also be a Jingle Bell 5k run on December 4. Proceeds from that will go towards purchasing gifts for 1,500 families.
