Man pleads guilty to some charges in hit-and-run that injured 3 Penn Presbyterian nurses

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One of the men accused of critically injuring three Penn Presbyterian Hospital nurses during a hit-and-run nearly two years ago has pleaded guilty to some of the charges.

Samir Murphy admitted he was one of the suspects who struck the trio of nurses trying to help his friend, who had just been shot multiple times in the early hours of Oct. 12, 2024.

Prosecutors said Murphy and two others pulled a stolen Jeep up to the hospital to get help for their friend, and when a security guard, who saw bullet holes in the car, told them they had to leave the vehicle there for the police, they took off and ran over the nurses.

One had severe, life-threatening injuries: fractures throughout his skull, ribs and limbs, and had to be on a ventilator and feeding tube.

The other two were also injured but have fully recovered.

Prosecutors said police recovered the Jeep in Upper Darby and pulled fingerprints and DNA from it. A few of the fingerprints matched Murphy.

The 22-year-old pleaded guilty to three aggravated assault charges and one charge of fleeing.

He’s expected to be sentenced in July.
