FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — Crews in South Jersey have fully contained a wildfire that broke out on Wednesday and threatened properties in Franklin Township, Gloucester County.

The Scotland Run Wildfire broke out in the area of Pennsylvania and Proposed avenues. Several red New Jersey Forest Fire Service trucks were going to and from the command post throughout the night on Wednesday and Thursday morning.

The wildfire grew to 191 acres, but crews made progress. By Thursday morning, officials said the fire was 100% contained.

Early on, 60 structures were threatened, but fortunately, no structures were evacuated. None of the schools were at risk, according to Franklin Township police.

Officials asked nearby residents to stay indoors and call 911 if they had any health issues related to the smoke, but the shelter-in-place order has since been lifted.

There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Officials said smoke will likely linger in the area until there is significant rainfall.
