SADSBURY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — The Route 30 bypass westbound near Coatesville was shut down for several hours on Thursday after authorities said a tractor-trailer hit a mowing crew along the road and flew over a guardrail onto Old Mill Road below.

It happened around 1:15 p.m. in Sadsbury Township, about 7 miles west of Coatesville. Several hazmat teams and fire crews descended on the scene.

The truck sustained massive damage, including large holes in its side. Some of the produce it was hauling was scattered around Old Mill Road and in a nearby stream, along with automotive parts and other debris.

Around 4:45 p.m., crews used a lift to put the tractor-trailer upright and move it from Old Mill Road. The truck itself was brought to a rest on the side of the bypass.

Pennsylvania State Police are leading the investigation into the crash. A representative from XAN Systems, the operator of the truck, said they are still gathering information.
