PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The countdown is on. With many bus routes changing this weekend, SEPTA crews are using these final days to inform riders how their commutes will be different.

Starting Sunday, Aug. 23, the first phase of SEPTA’s New Bus Network kicks in, with 30 routes changing, two new routes established and seven others eliminated.

SEPTA street teams have been leafleting to get the word out.

“Does everybody know about the changes? Definitely not,” said Dan Nemiroff, SEPTA director of service planning. “There’s going to be people that walk out of their house on Monday morning and they’re like, ‘Wait a second — what happened?’”

Signs at affected bus stops detail the changes, but riders may still have questions. SEPTA is also planning a public Zoom session on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 6 p.m. to outline the changes.
