Police searching for serial robber who hit 8 Olney businesses in the last month

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are looking for a man who they say is responsible for eight robberies over the last month, all within a mile of each other in the Olney section of the city.

One of the stores he hit was Harry's Hair and Nail Salon, located on Fifth Street between Olney Avenue and Tabor Road.


The owner told police he was opening his store around 8 a.m. on Jan. 10 when a man walked in, said he had a gun, and demanded money.

Police released surveillance footage of the Jan. 10 robbery.

The seven other robberies took place as follows:

— Dec. 8 on the 5200 block of A Street
— Dec. 27 on the 5500 block of North Fairhill Street
— Dec. 31 on the 5100 block of North Fifth Street
— Jan. 10 on the 5500 block of North Fifth Street
— Jan. 14 on the 1800 block of Sulis Street
— Jan. 19 on the 400 block of West Tabor Street

Investigators say the man seems to be staying in that area. Anyone who recognizes him is asked to call 911 or contact police.
