PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Sharon Pinkenson, a longtime booster for the film and television production in Philadelphia, is stepping down as executive director of the nonprofit Greater Philadelphia Film Office.

Pinkenson announced Thursday she will leave the organization at the end of the month to work as an executive producer.

Before taking on her role at the Film Office in 1992, Pinkenson worked as a costume designer and wardrobe stylist.

According to the Film Office, movie and TV production — ranging from "The Sixth Sense" to "Mare of Easttown" — has generated more than $6 billion in revenue for the region since Pinkenson took the reins.

She will be succeeded by two veteran Film Office employees, Erin Wagner and Nicole Shiner.

Pinkenson's last day on the job will be Nov. 30.
