PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man is in critical condition after he was shot outside a Market-Frankford Line station in Kensington overnight, police said.
Shortly after midnight Friday, officers responded to 911 calls of shots fired in the area of B Street and Kensington Avenue. Officers found a man unresponsive on the ground near the entrance of Huntingdon Station. Chief Inspector Scott Small said he had been shot possibly twice in the head.
"We know at least 25 shots were fired from a semiautomatic weapon or weapons. We don't have a description of the shooter or shooters, nor do we have a motive," said Small.
The 21-year-old victim, who police were unable to initially identify, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Police plan to comb through SEPTA surveillance footage and any other video from private security cameras in the neighborhood as part of the investigation. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police.
