PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A gunshot was fired during a possible robbery attempt at a Broad Street Line station in South Philadelphia early Monday morning.
The Tasker-Morris Station closed around 5:30 a.m. because of "police activity," SEPTA said. The transit agency initially said there was an altercation between a man and a woman.
Officials later clarified the information, stating a man aggressively approached a woman from behind. She fought back to protect herself, and the man pulled out a gun and unleashed a single shot.
No one was hit by the gunfire. SEPTA didn’t say how many people were at the station at the time and potentially at risk.
At this point, there’s no word from SEPTA about any arrests or possible charges.
Because of the initial on-scene investigation, the Tasker-Morris Station was closed and trains were skipping the stop. By about 7 a.m., the station reopened.
