PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Sixers legend was honored Friday with the unveiling of a sculpture along Legends Walk in Camden.

“I've accomplished a lot of things in my career, but this is the cream of the crop, you know what I mean?” said an emotional Allen Iverson.

The sculpture is of Iverson doing his famous crossover. It was created by Philly native Chad Fisher.

“It’s always an honor to contribute to 76ers Legends Walk and continually help bring history to life for such a storied franchise,” Fisher said. “Allen Iverson was a game-changer, a true 76er who every Philadelphian worshipped, and I’m thrilled to unveil a sculpture of the MVP.”

Fisher also created statues along Legends Walk for Charles Barkley, Wilt Chamberlain, Maurice Cheeks, Billy Cunningham, Julius Erving, Hal Greer, Bobby Jones, Moses Malone, and Dolph Schayes. Iverson’s will sit beside theirs.

He calls this dedication “such an honor.”

Iverson was selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft. He spent his first 12 seasons with the Sixers and was named Rookie of the Year in 1997.

In 2001, Iverson was the NBA’s Most Valuable Player when he led the Sixers to the Finals. He was named an All-Star 11 times, received seven All-NBA selections, was a four-time NBA scoring champion and scored more than 245,000 career points.

In 2016, he was enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Iverson will be honored before tipoff Sunday when the Sixers host the Brooklyn Nets.
