PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The state's Forest Fire Service has made progress fighting a wildfire in Ocean County since Sunday.

A small plane crashed near Miller Air Park in Lacey Township early on Sunday morning, killing the pilot and sparking the fire. Since then, fire officials say it has grown to more than 800 acres and is 70% contained.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service initially said 25 structures were considered under threat from the fire, and local volunteer fire companies were providing protection. Those locations are now deemed safe.

The cause of the crash is yet unclear.
